British Airways suspends Islamabad flight operation

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The British Airways has suspended its Islamabad flight operation citing operational reasons.

The British Airways on Tuesday decided to suspend its flight operation in Islamabad from June 15 till June 30 owing to some operational hitches.

The BA station manager informed the manager of Islamabad International Airport about the airlines’ decision. He, however, stated that the current flight schedule would stay on course till June 15.

The Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson also confirmed that the BA was suspending its flight operation in Islamabad due to operational reasons.

The spokesperson rebuffed the rumours doing rounds on the social media regarding BA’s suspension of Islamabad flight operation due to fuel shortage.

“The CAA has been informed by the aviation fuel providers at Islamabad airport that there is no shortage of fuel and fuel storage tanks are full,” he added.

The spokesperson said that the British Airways would soon release an explanation in this regard, adding that the local BA administration was in contact with Islamabad airport authorities.

On Feb 28, the British Airways halted its Lahore to London flight operation which was resumed between the two cities in October 2020. Since then, the BA has been continuing to operate its flights between Islamabad and London.
