Khatir Afridi remembers on his 53th death anniversary in Landi Kotal

LANDI KOTAL: The 53th death anniversary of renowned Pashto poet Mesri Khan Khatir alias Khatir Afridi observed here in Landi Kotal on last day.

In this connection a literary gathering was organized under the auspices of Khyber youth affairs at Jirga Hall,Landi Kotal that was attended by Assistant Commissioner(AC) Irshad Mohmand,District Youth Officer Zabiullah besides  large number of poets, literary figures and lovers of Khatir Afridi who paid rich tribute to the Pashto poet and highlighted different aspects of his life. 

The gathering which comprised a Seminar and Muhaira and  in the first session, the young scholar Atif Perhar presented his  dissertation themed,”Khatir Afridi and Pashto Ghazal” while speakers including Dilbar Shahkar,Faisal Umar and Haji Sher shed light on the various aspect of the life of the  late Pashto poet and  acknowledged his services for the uplift of  Pashto Ghazal and the language.

AC Irshad Mohmand paid rich tribute to the poet and said Khatir was popular among the Pakhtoons due to his easy language, he utilized in his pieces of poetry.

He assured that the government will adopt necessary steps to work for the welfare of the poets community.

Earlier, President Landi Kotal press club Khall Jibran briefed the participants of the initiatives taken to build Khatir Afridi complex at his shrine in Sadu Khel while local singer Azirehman sang Ghazal of Khatir Afridi that amused the audience.

Shields were also given away to the AC,Khalil Jibran and others for their extraordinary contribution.

Similarly in the  second session a Mushaira(poetry reciting) was arranged in which locals poets including  Khanemullah Mazoor,Abdul Ghafoor,Ghafoor,Amanullah Bawar,Nasim Khan Nasim,Salih Muhammad Salih,Namadar Afridi,Hashem Khan Hashem,Kohat Khan Zakir,Wairs Khan Ajez,Dr Behram Khan and others  admired the great poet through their prose, Pashto verses and Ghazal recited by them that enthralled the audience.
