Motorways, GT Road reopen for traffic

ISLAMANAD: Containers that had been placed to stop the workers and supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from joining the party’s rally in Islamabad have been removed from GT Road and motorways, on Thursday.

According to the traffic police, containers from the Babu Sabu Interchange in Lahore have been removed and the road has been opened for public traffic.

Containers that had been placed on Ravi Bridge and Batti Chowk in Lahore to stop the PTI marchers have also been removed, and the roads are now open for traffic.

Similarly, the motorway police have also removed all the barriers that had been placed at different points.

It merits a mention here that people in different cities experienced difficulties due to blockage of roads with containers, and, news about PTI workers and police face-off in different districts of Punjab had also been reported.

Police also raided the houses of prominent leaders and supporters of the PTI in Punjab in a move to bar them from reaching the federal capital to join the party’s rally.
