PIA announces Hajj flight operation plan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Tuesday unveiled details of its Hajj flight operation.

As per details, the national flag carrier will facilitate over 40,000 public and private intended pilgrims this year in their quest to perform Hajj.

This year, the PIA’s Hajj flight operation will start when the first flight will leave Islamabad for Madinah on June 6.

The PIA will continue to transport pilgrims to Madinah till June 15 and then to Jeddah from June 15 to July 3.

In total, PIA will operate 400 flights in its pre-and post-Hajj operations. The pilgrims will be transported for Hajj by 200 flights from five major cities Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Multan and Quetta and the same number of flights will be operated to bring back the pilgrims to home.

PIA will use Boeing 777 and Airbus 320 aircraft from Quetta airport.

The Hajj operation was delayed due to non-issuance of flight schedule by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
